When: Sunday 24th February 2013Imagine Children’s Festival (Feb 11th-24th)
Billed as a festival for children, created BY children (32 children from eight local schools helped plan this year’s event), Imagine Children’s Festival is a two week extravaganza at London’s Southbank Centre.
It’s a combination of author/illustrator events, workshops, music, performances and free events.
Some of the many highlights include appearances from Michael Rosen, Cressida Cowell, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Judith Kerr and Anthony Horowitz.
As well as these household names, there’s a whole host of other events including a drawing workshop with Dirty Bertie creator David Roberts, bilingual storytelling (in French), and a robot-making masterclass with author Viviane Schwarz.
Some of the free events include building an 8ft high book from Lego, the London Children’s Bookswap and a Where’s Wally Hunt.
The festival also holds the Red House Children’s Book Awards, the only book award to be entirely voted for by children.
