Successful writers Sufiya Ahmed and Zahid Hussain both hail from the north-west and their books authentically depict the lives of Asian families in culturally diverse Britain today. Sufiya Ahmed found a niche in the children’s market with her humorous stories about schoolgirl Zahra and recently jumped onto the teen bookshelf with Secrets of the Henna Girl, the story of 16 year old Zeba Khan planning her future until a summer in Pakistan radically disturbs her dreams.

Zahid Hussain’s popular tale The Curry Mile is a story of family feuds and betrayal set within the cut-throat restaurant trade in Manchester. Join Sufiya and Zahid in a lively conversation as they discuss their own cultural experiences and what makes a good story as well as inspiring you to get writing from your own ethnic and cultural perspectives.
