Eoin Colfer is the children’s author who makes reading irresistible. His Artemis Fowl books have sold over 20 million copies world-wide and Kenneth Branagh has been signed up to develop a film version for Disney. Colfer was chosen to write a sequel to the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and was recently commissioned to write a new Iron Man novel (it publishes autumn 2016).

Eoin also has the honour of being Irish Children’s Laureate (Laureate na n’Óg) and as part of his tenure compiled thi new anthology of stories and poems for children by top authors, Once Upon a Place. It includes stories by Roddy Doyle, John Connolly and Sarah Webb as well as the first ever story for children by Academy Award nominee Jim Sheridan, director of My Left Foot.

‘I made this my laureate project with a general aim of connecting today’s screen-centric youngsters to the magic of the country they live in and its rich artistic heritage,’ says Eoin Colfer, ‘But I hope it encourages young readers everywhere to look out for the places where they find magic.’

The book features beautiful black-and-white charcoal illustrations by award-winning artist and picture book illustrator P.J. Lynch making it even more special.
Once Upon a Place is published by Little Island books.
