Sarah Mussi: The Snowdonia Reading Adventure

_S8B1705_short2THE SNOWDONIA READING ADVENTURE: DISCOVERING WALES’S ANCIENT MYTHS PRESENTED BY AUTHOR, TEACHER AND READING CONSULTANT SARAH MUSSI

HOW DOES IT WORK? Sarah will visit your school to deliver a presentation and to give pupils a signed copy of Here Be Dragons. Once students have read the book, she will return to your school and run a tailored creative writing workshop. She will explore the key themes that were the inspiration behind her book Here Be Dragons: myth, magic and mystery. Sarah’s talk will cover the fact and the fiction behind the legends surrounding the dragons of Wales and the tales of Merlin. It will give pupils a unique insight into the mythology of Snowdonia as Sarah shares her lifetime’s passion for all things magical and mysterious. The workshop will help pupils to build their creative writing skills while encouraging them to learn more about standing stones, mythical monsters and local legends. Sarah’s talk will also explore some of Wales’s most important archaeological sites, including Segontium and Tre’r Ceiri.

WHO IS IT FOR? The Snowdonia Reading Adventure is suitable for all pupils between the ages of nine to fourteen. Sarah can tailor her talk and workshop to suit the specific requirements of your school, being able to incorporate tasks and topics as required. The scheme can be run for pupils of all reading abilities, especially reluctant readers and pupil premium students.
